HOW TO CREATE A BOOTABLE EMULATOR-IIIX HARD DISK FROM A HARD DISK IMAGE FILE
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This ZIP file contains 4 bootable hard disk image files for the Emulator-IIIX.
Operating system 2.10 has been installed on these images, but no sound banks.

The images have been pre-formatted for hard disks with a physical size equal to or larger than:
 - 96 MB (=typical 100MB ZIP disk size)
 - 239 MB (=typical 250MB ZIP disk size)
 - 464 MB
 - 953 MB

A/ How to create a normal (un-partitioned) hard disk (e.g. CF card, SD card, ZIP disk, SCSI HD, ...)

   1. Find the image in the ZIP file which fits best the physical size of the hard disk/card
(without exceeding the physical size of the hard disk/card)

   2. Copy the image to the hard disk/card:
      - either with the "Copy Hard Disk Image To Hard Disk" function in EMXP, available on http://www.emxp.net
      - or with a raw image copy tool like
"HDD Raw Copy Tool" for Windows available on http://www.hddguru.com
"DDRescui-GUI" for macOS available on http://www.launchpad.net/ddrescue-gui

   3. You can boot the Emulator-IIIX from the hard disk/card now !

Additional step (optional) if you have a floppy drive in your Emulator-IIIX:

   4. On the Emulator-IIIX, use the Copy Software function (Master->Disk Utilities->Copy Software)
to copy the operating system from the hard disk/card to a floppy disk

   5. Reboot the Emulator-IIIX with the floppy disk inserted in the floppy drive

   6. Re-format the hard disk/card. The hard disk/card will now be formatted to a size which may fit better
in its physical size than the original image size does.

   7. Copy the operating system from the floppy disk back to the hard disk/card with the Copy Software function

B/ How to create a SCSISD partitioned SD card consisting of multiple partitions

   1. First format all partitions on the SD card with the "Format Hard Disk" function in EMXP, available on http://www.emxp.net
(select option "Format a multi-device SCSI2SD ... hard disk" to do this !)

   2. Find the image in the ZIP file which fits best the physical size of the first SCSI2SD partition
(without exceeding the physical size of that partition)

   3. Copy the image to the first SCSI2SD partition:
      - either with the "Copy Hard Disk Image To Hard Disk" function in EMXP, available on http://www.emxp.net
      - or (ONLY IF THE FIRST PARTITION STARTS AT SECTOR 0 OF THE SD CARD !!) with a raw image copy tool like
"HDD Raw Copy Tool" for Windows available on http://www.hddguru.com
"DDRescui-GUI" for macOS available on http://www.launchpad.net/ddrescue-gui

   4. You can boot the Emulator-IIIX from the first partition on the SCSI2SD card now !

   5. On the Emulator-IIIX, use the Copy Software function (Master->Disk Utilities->Copy Software)
to copy the operating system from the first SCSI2SD partition to the other SCSI2SD partitions

   6. Done. The Emulator-IIIX can boot now from any of the SCSI2SD partitions.

   Additional optional steps:

   7. Re-format the first partition of the SCSI2SD card:
      - either with the "Format Hard Disk" function in EMXP
(make sure you ONLY select the first partition in the EMXP Disk Manager before selecting the Format Hard Disk menu option !)
      - or on the Emulator-IIIX itself

The first partition is now formatted to a size which may fit better in its physical size than the original image size does

   8. On the Emulator-IIIX, copy the operating system from one of the other SCSI2SD partitions (see step 6) back to the first partition now.
Use the Copy Software function (Master->Disk Utilities->Copy Software)

   9. Done. The Emulator-IIIX can boot now from any of the SCSI2SD partitions.
